Leonardo M. Fabbri was Professor and Director of Respiratory Medicine (2000-2015) and of Internal Medicine (2015-2016) at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia 2000-2016. Then, starting November 2017 he became and still is Eminent Scholar of Respiratory and Internal Medicine at the University of Ferrara, and from 2017-2019 he was Visiting Professor of Respiratory and Internal Medicine at the University of Gothenburg. He served as Associate Editor in the most important Respiratory Journals (AJRCCM, Lancet Respir Med, Eur Respir J). He was one of the founding partners of the Global Initiative on Asthma (GINA) and Global Initiative on Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD). He was President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) 2007-2008.
His main areas of interest have been and still are asthma, COPD and chronic multimorbidity. He has published > 650 papers in peer reviewed journals plus several book chapters. His Hirsh Index December 2024 is 132 according to Google Scholar and 112 according to Scopus.
